I think there needs to me a Meowmie Martyr contest

Yesterday I finally managed, in about three grueling sessions to brush all four acres of Darlin'. We both got a lot of exercise, and for my trouble I got a NICE BITE.

Man, I wish that cat were not brush-o-phobic. And I have tried all manner of brushes, all the other cats love being brushed.

At least Darlin' is spared the lion cut !!

and not fun! One suggestion - instead of brushing Darlin, try wetting your hands with water, and then petting him. Your wet hands will pick up a lot of fur, and Darlin may not mind it as much as brushing. Plus, you would be spared the wrath of those teeth

he'd bite me for that too, and brushing is pretty much necessary because he can not reach all his "parts" to groom them because of his size. This is his back (not tummy) from about midway on back and the back of his legs. He also has such thick fur and undercoat that you CANNOT see his skin.

that has a brush built into the palm? Some of mine that hate brushing will tolerate that.

if I have been trying to brush him, he will run if I PET him with my hand.
This is a true phobia, I tell you!!
Actually none of the cats would do the glove thing, and I think I paid $5 for it
And that bite is bad, but I tell you a Darlin' bite iw was better than being caught with his back claws.

welding gloves? I used them when I groomed Miss Kitty. She loved me to work the knots out but man if I pulled too hard she would slice and dice me. Everyone else was terrified of her.

the Vet said she had a strong self preservation instinct.

I'll look for some.
They might interfere with holding him down (by the rather chubby nape of his neck, this is not easy either).
And if I had had gloves on he still would have been able to bite me where he did...the back of the arm, above the wrist, hard to tell in the picture.

I know !! I need a suit of armor !

about midway to the elbow. They might make it harder to hold him though. I have thought about the armour when on those rare occasions one of my guys needs a bath. Too bad the armour would rust.

Past that you are on your own. I've got a pair out in the car right now. Of course he will probably fry when he see's them coming, but it's worth a try.

a trip to the ER, you will have several minutes to work on a section. It works somewhat with Sweeney.

Do they make a super jumbo size?
I am trying to figure out how I could brush him in something like that.

Jumbo for Sweeney. It zips from the top or the bottom allowing you to deal ith small areas at a time.

Jumbo than Sweeney. The Sween is about 21 pounds. His cat bag just fits him. If Darling is...er...fluffier, than you may need to check with your vet to see if there are dog bags available.

not to mention my injuries,.
The thing with Darlin' is that, yes he is huge. But...it isn't all fat; he is solid as a rock and very strong.
There's a lot of "him" he cannot reach to groom.
Wouldn't you just know he'd be the one with the brush phobia (and he has always been that way).

the Jumbo cat bag. Sweeney has the same problem, but he doesn't have a phobia. He hates it and won't be dised by anyone.
